This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's locked-room horror holds up well without requiring a sequel. Set in the late 70s in Denver, multiple child abductions has left the children frightened. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for greed in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation of the disgraced religious broadcaster plus her lawbreaking partner. Garfield plays the venal Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple set about monetising the nation's religious faith. It's a spectacle of poor styling, overdone appearance and bad faith, though Jessica Chastain succeeds to present the character in a likable light. October 14th, late night, the Film4 channel
